a MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER
Hi, I'm Chelsea! For me, taxes have never been about simply plugging numbers into a return. I'm an Enrolled Agent, but I'm also an educator at heart. My mission is to help everyday taxpayers understand how their money is taxed, how their tax bill is calculated, and what those numbers actually mean.
That means walking through your return with you, explaining your deductions and credits, and being proactive when I see something coming, like your final year qualifying for a credit or a reason to revisit your W-4. Sometimes our conversations go beyond taxes, to why saving matters, why life insurance and retirement accounts are worth exploring, and why building wealth isn't only for the wealthy.
For business owners, it means helping you understand your books, your deductions, your business structure, and your responsibilities as your own employer, and knowing when to bring in other trusted professionals.
Sometimes we simply need someone to teach us what we were never taught. That's why I do what I do. It's more than just taxes.

Common Questions, Clear Answers.
We've answered some of the most common questions our clients ask. Still need help? Call or text us — we're happy to help.
Yes! Advancity Financial Solutions is a fully virtual tax firm, which means you can have your taxes professionally prepared from the comfort of your home without sacrificing personal support.
We use a secure client portal to handle document uploads, engagement agreements, and personally identifiable information (PII). Once you begin the onboarding process, we'll provide detailed instructions based on your specific tax situation so you know what information and documentation we need from you.
But virtual does not mean DIY. You are not preparing your own tax return or being left to figure everything out on your own. Your return is professionally prepared behind the scenes by our U.S.-based tax preparation team.
Throughout the process, you have access to real people. If you have a question, need help uploading documents, or aren't sure what we're asking for, you can call, text, or message our team through your client portal.
Once your return is complete, we'll conduct a detailed tax return review with you by phone. We'll walk you through your return, explain the results, answer your questions, and make sure you understand what is being filed.
In fact, our virtual model allows us to be more accessible to our clients by giving our team more time to prepare returns, answer questions, explain, and guide.
Virtual simply makes the process more convenient—the professional preparation and personal support are still very much human.
We provide virtual tax preparation nationwide in all 50 states!
Because Advancity Financial Solutions is fully virtual, you can work with our team no matter where you live in the United States.
At this time, we do not prepare tax returns requiring filing in U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Whether you're right down the street or across the country, you'll receive the same professional tax preparation and personalized support—all from the convenience of home.
The documents you'll need will depend on your individual tax situation—but don't worry, we'll help you determine exactly what we need.
For all taxpayers (and spouses, if applicable), we'll need a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state-issued ID, passport, or Permanent Resident Card.
From there, your required documents will vary based on your sources of income, deductions, credits, investments, and whether you own a business or rental property.
For example, you may need income documents such as W-2s or 1099s, investment or retirement statements, education or childcare information, and other tax documents you received during the year. Business owners may also need to provide business income and expense information and other records related to their business.
You don't have to figure out the entire document list on your own. During onboarding, we'll ask questions about your specific tax situation and provide detailed instructions regarding the documents and information we need from you.
If you're ever unsure whether something applies to you, just ask!
You can communicate with us in the way that works best for you.
Throughout the tax preparation process, you can call our office, text our team, or send us a message through your TaxDome client portal. Depending on your question, we can also schedule a phone call when a more detailed conversation would be helpful.
For the quickest and most efficient communication, we recommend calling, texting, or using the client portal rather than email.
For your security, please never send tax documents or personally identifiable information (PII) by text. Text messaging should only be used for general questions and communication that does not contain sensitive personal or financial information.
Tax documents, Social Security numbers, identification documents, and other sensitive information should always be securely uploaded or communicated through your client portal.
Absolutely! Being virtual does not mean being disconnected from our team.
Our onboarding process is designed to be simple enough to complete on your own, but you are never limited to self-service. We understand that some clients want to speak with someone, ask questions, or get a better feel for our process before deciding to work with us.
You're always welcome to call or text our office. If needed, we can schedule a time to talk.
Once you become a client, that access continues throughout the entire tax preparation process. You can call, text, or message us through your client portal whenever you need assistance.
When your tax return is complete, you'll also have an opportunity to speak with our team during your tax return review to ask questions and receive clarification before filing.
We may be a virtual tax firm, but there are real people behind the process—and we're here when you need us.
Individual tax preparation starts at $330. Your final cost will depend on your specific tax situation, the complexity of your return, and the services and options you select.
We use a form-based pricing model, meaning your tax preparation fee is based on the forms and schedules required to accurately prepare your return. Since every taxpayer's situation is different, there isn't one flat price that applies to everyone.
Your total cost may also vary depending on the type of return and additional services or products you choose, such as File Now, Pay Later, a bank product, a refund advance, audit protection, or other available options.
Rather than publishing a long list of individual tax-form and service fees that may be difficult to interpret, we recommend calling us for a personalized pricing quote.
Pricing for other services—including business tax preparation, bookkeeping, tax planning, consultations, and other business services—is determined based on the scope of work and level of support needed.
Getting started is easy! Simply click the “START YOUR TAX RETURN” button on our website and complete the requested information.
Once submitted, you'll receive a text message with a link to our secure client portal, where you'll create your account.
After logging in, you'll find instructions outlining the three things you need to complete to get started:
1. Read & Sign Your Engagement Letter
Review and electronically sign your engagement letter.
2. Complete Your Tax Organizer
Answer the questions in your client tax organizer so we can understand your specific tax situation.
3. Upload Your Documents
Securely upload your tax documents directly to your client portal.
All three steps must be completed before your return can move into tax preparation.
And remember, self-service onboarding doesn't mean you're on your own. If you need help, you can contact our team.
Once you've completed all three onboarding requirements—signing your engagement letter, completing your tax organizer, and uploading your documents—your return can move into our tax preparation process.
Please note that uploading documents alone does not move your return into preparation. We need your completed organizer and signed engagement letter as well.
Once all three items are complete, your return will move to a tax preparer. During preparation, your preparer may contact you through your client portal with questions, requests for clarification, or requests for additional documentation.
After preparation, your return will go through our internal review process behind the scenes.
Once the review is complete, we'll contact you to schedule your tax return review call. We'll go over your completed return, explain the results, answer your questions, and collect the required signatures before electronically filing your return.
No! Our entire onboarding process can be completed from your smartphone.
In fact, most of our clients use their phones and download our mobile app, which provides a user-friendly way to access the client portal right from a mobile device.
You don't need a computer, document scanner, or fax machine to send us your tax documents. Our mobile app includes a built-in document scanner that allows you to capture your documents using your phone and automatically removes the background for a cleaner image.
You can also take a clear picture of a document using your phone's camera, save it to your photo gallery, and upload it directly to the portal.
Of course, if you prefer using a desktop or laptop computer, you can do that too. Use whichever device is most convenient for you.
Absolutely. Your tax return will not be e-filed until the required signatures have been obtained.
Once your return has been prepared and has completed our internal review process, we'll schedule a tax return review call with you.
During your review, we'll go over your completed return, discuss the results, answer your questions, and provide clarification before collecting your signature and moving forward with e-filing.
Absolutely—yes! We encourage it.
At Advancity Financial Solutions, we're passionate about empowering taxpayers to understand their tax returns, not simply telling them whether they're receiving a refund or have a balance due.
We want you to understand the numbers behind your return and have an opportunity to ask questions before you sign.
So please, ask questions! To us, questions mean that you care about understanding what's being filed on your behalf, and we want our clients to feel informed about their taxes.
Tax preparation fees are generally due upon engagement with Advancity Financial Solutions, rather than after we've completed your tax return.
For qualifying clients, we may also offer a File Now, Pay Later option that allows eligible tax preparation fees to be paid from the taxpayer's refund rather than paid directly upfront.
File Now, Pay Later is subject to eligibility requirements, and not every taxpayer will qualify.
Our team can discuss available payment options with you based on your individual situation.
Yes! We offer refund advances during tax season, generally beginning January 2 and continuing through approximately mid-March, depending on the participating bank's availability and annual cutoff dates.
For taxpayers who qualify, a next-day refund advance may provide access to a portion of their expected tax refund sooner.
Refund advances are subject to eligibility and approval requirements, and not everyone will qualify. Availability, advance amounts, and program dates may also vary by tax season.
Absolutely. We regularly help taxpayers catch up on unfiled prior-year tax returns.
Whether you've missed one year or several years, our team can help determine which returns need to be filed, gather the information needed, and work with you to get your tax filings back on track.
Yes! We regularly prepare amended tax returns.
If you've already filed a return and later discovered that something was incorrect, incomplete, or omitted, we can review the situation and determine whether an amended return is appropriate.
Absolutely! We love working with business owners.
We prepare returns for entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, S corporations, and other business owners.
Business returns are one of our favorite areas of tax preparation because they give us an opportunity to work with taxpayers who are building businesses while helping them better understand the tax side of what they've created.
No. Tax preparation and tax planning are separate services.
Tax preparation focuses on accurately preparing and filing your tax return based on transactions and events that have already occurred.
Tax planning is a separate, proactive service designed to evaluate your tax situation and identify strategies for the future.
Our ongoing tax planning services are reserved for clients enrolled in one of our membership plans. Tax planning may also be available through a separate engagement or tax planning consultation.
Yes. If you're dealing with IRS tax debt or other IRS collection issues, our sister company, Advancity Tax Relief, focuses specifically on helping taxpayers navigate IRS resolution matters.
If you're overwhelmed by an IRS balance or aren't sure what your options are, you can learn more at AdvancityTaxRelief.com.
Yes. Audit protection is available as an optional add-on service when you prepare your tax return with us.
For clients who elect to add audit protection, coverage applies to the return filed with us for up to three years in the event the return is selected for an IRS audit, subject to the terms and limitations of the audit protection program.
Ask our team about adding audit protection to your tax preparation service.
No. Advancity Financial Solutions is a 100% virtual firm, and we do not offer in-person appointments.
The address you may see listed for us online is our mailing location only. Our team is not physically stationed at that location, and clients should not visit the address expecting to meet with a staff member.
Our entire team works remotely from their respective home offices, allowing us to serve clients virtually across the country.
But remember: virtual doesn't mean you can't talk to us. You can still call, text, message us through your client portal, or schedule a phone appointment when needed.
Yes! If you'd like to speak with us before getting started, you can schedule a 15-minute onboarding call.
An onboarding call gives you an opportunity to ask general questions about working with Advancity Financial Solutions and receive assistance beginning the onboarding process.
If you're comfortable getting started on your own, you don't need to schedule a call—simply click “START YOUR TAX RETURN” on our website and follow the instructions.
Yes! We regularly prepare tax returns for clients who have tax filing requirements in more than one state.
This is especially common for taxpayers who live in one state but work in another, commute across state lines, move during the year, or otherwise have income connected to multiple states.
Our virtual model allows us to work with taxpayers across the country, including those whose tax situations involve multiple state returns.
